Capturing the power of the sun with Solar Panels is something that has been successfully accomplished for a long time. Since solar power was established, the technology, efficiency and popularity has grown enormously and recently solar panel production has increased worldwide.

Home designers are increasingly looking at the best ways to incorporate solar energy into their buildings. Solar power is increasingly used to heat swimming pools and provide domestic hot water. Garden lighting is commonly provided using solar products. Environmentally solar energy is good news for all of us.

I live in sunny Perth Australia and heat my water with solar panels, saving me a small fortune. However with technology today many countries with far less sunshine benefit from the power of the sun.

For years now you have probably used calculators that have solar cells. You may have seen larger solar panels on emergency road signs or in parking lots to power lights. Solar lights are common in gardens and driveways too here in Perth.

Check out some of the bargains you can enjoy with the clean energy provided by solar systems. I hope you find this information useful.

Wind and Solar Power Systems
The search for clean, renewable energy sources has yielded enormous growth and new developments in these technologies in a few short years, driving down costs and encouraging utilities in many nations, both developed and developing, to add and expand wind and solar power capacity. The first, best-selling edition of Wind and Solar Power Systems provided the most complete and modern treatment of renewable energy. This second edition continues the tradition by offering updated and expanded coverage of this growing field. The book begins with individual sections devoted to wind power and solar photovoltaic technologies, their engineering fundamentals, conversion characteristics, operational considerations to maximize output, and emerging trends. The discussion of wind power includes the theory of induction machine performance and operation as well as generator speed control, while the solar PV section includes array design, environmental variables, and sun-tracking methods. This edition includes two chapters devoted to new and specialized technologies. The third section explores large-scale energy storage technologies, overall electrical system performance, and total plant economy while the final section explores ancillary power systems derived from the sun. Focusing on the complete system rather than on a single component, Wind and Solar Power Systems: Design, Analysis, and Operation, Second Edition offers the most comprehensive reference to all aspects of modern renewable energy systems.

Thermal Analysis and Design of Passive Solar Buildings
Passive solar design techniques are becoming increasingly important in building design. This design reference book takes the building engineer or physicist step-by-step through the thermal analysis and design of passive solar buildings. In particular it emphasizes two important topics: the maximum utilization of available solar energy and thermal storage, and the sizing of an appropriate auxiliary heating/cooling system in conjunction with good thermal control.Topics include:* transient heat transfer and thermal storage* fenestration components, systems and daylighting* dynamic models of heat transfer in solar buildings* the passive response of solar buildings and its use in design* ventilation and indoor air quality* analysis and sizing of small auxiliary heating/cooling systems* control of passive solar buildings* solar energy utilization techniques and systems"Thermal Analysis and Design of Passive Solar Buildings" is an important contribution towards the optimization of buildings as systems that act as natural filters between the indoor and outdoor environments, while maximizing the utilization of solar energy. As such it will be an essential source of information to engineers, architects, HVAC engineers and building physicists.

The Sun, Solar Analogs and the Climate
This book presents the lecture notes of the 34th Saas-Fee Advanced Course, "The Sun, Solar Analogs and the Climate" given by leading scientists in the field. Emphasis is on the observed variability of the Sun and the present understanding of the variability's origin as well as its impact on the Earth's climate. The solar variability is then studied in the broader context of solar-type stars, allowing for better understanding of the solar-activity cycle and the magnetic activity in general. This book provides an accessible and up-to-date introduction to the field for graduate students and serves as a modern source of reference for active researchers in this field.
